Acupuncture FAQ

How many treatments will I need?

People with an acute complaint often benefit from 3 to 5 treatments. Chronic issues typically require more attention, with treatment courses usually ranging from 5 to 10 sessions. Maintaining your balance preventively is always helpful; on average, people come once a month or once every three weeks, depending on their individual needs.

Each session is tailored to your specific needs and the issues you are experiencing at that moment. No two treatments are exactly the same. I work in a gentle, calm, and supportive way, combining subtle methods such as minerals, crystals, essential oils, moxa, moxa lamp, gua sha, cupping, and yoga nidra to help your body and mind find balance.

The needles are very thin and usually hardly noticeable. Some people may experience a brief, light tingling sensation, which passes quickly.

During the treatment, people often experience deep relaxation of body and mind. They may feel tingling or warmth, notice their energy flowing, become tired, or even fall asleep. Emotions can surface, while they feel lighter, freer, and more in touch with themselves, like a gentle reset for body and mind.

After the treatment, you may feel deeper relaxation, either tired or more energized. Sometimes your complaint is already noticeably reduced or even largely gone. You may feel lighter, or notice more frequent trips to the bathroom — a sign that your body is naturally eliminating toxins.

  • Drink plenty of warm water or herbal tea to support your body in naturally eliminating toxins.
  • Avoid coffee and alcohol for the rest of the day.
  • Take time to notice what is happening in your body , you may feel tingling, warmth, a flow of energy, pain relief, tiredness, or even increased energy.
  • Pause and reflect on any changes you notice. Journaling can help you become more aware of the effects the treatment has initiated.
  • After a fire cupping session: keep the treated area warm and avoid direct sunlight.
  • Wait a few hours before showering to allow the treatment to fully take effect.

With acute complaints, many people notice improvements quickly, sometimes after just one or a few sessions. For chronic or deeper-seated issues, the body naturally needs more time to restore balance. Each session gently builds on the previous one, allowing your healing process to deepen in a natural and supportive way.

If you have supplementary insurance, treatment costs are often fully or partially reimbursed. Check with your health insurer to see exactly what is covered. You can usually also declare the costs as healthcare expenses on your tax return.

I invite you to bring your own towel. We work with energy, and many people find it comforting to use their own towel, scarf, or blanket. Bringing your own also supports a mindful and sustainable approach, together we can reduce laundry and lighten our environmental footprint.

Payments can easily be made via QR code or Tikkie. Cash payments are only possible by prior arrangement.

Payment is made directly after the treatment, unless you are using a package or membership.

Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned — and that’s completely understandable. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance. This way, I can offer that time to someone else who may need it.

If an appointment is cancelled between 48 and 24 hours in advance, 50% of the fee will be charged. For cancellations within 24 hours, or in case of a no-show, the full amount will be invoiced.

I prepare each treatment with care and attention, and plan my time in a way that allows me to offer everyone the personal presence they deserve. Thank you for your understanding — this helps me protect the quality, calm, and personal attention of my work, and stay in balance, for you and for others.

It is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For example, choose pants that can be rolled up above the knee and a top that allows the arms to be easily exposed, with the option to uncover the abdomen if needed. This is a general guideline and may vary depending on the condition and treatment.

I offer my treatments, workshops, retreats and classes in both Dutch and English, or a blend of the two when it feels most natural. This way, I can clearly communicate what’s important while creating space for personal attention and understanding. Everyone is welcome.

I collaborate with some of the finest local chefs, carefully selected by the retreat hosts. They prepare vegetarian and vegan meals using regional ingredients (unless stated otherwise) and thoughtfully align the menu with the retreat’s activities and sessions. Allergies or special dietary requests can be shared with me in advance or mentioned when making your booking.

If you’d like to stay a little longer to fully let the retreat experience sink in, you can book additional nights directly with the venue (subject to availability). Please note that it’s only possible to add days after the retreat, not before, this is due to the shared arrival day and our preparations at the venue.

Alternatively, you might consider spending a few extra days in the nearby village or town to gently wind down, reflect, and carry the retreat experience home at your own pace.
